Rev. Vernon Cecil Jessee Passes Away
Dungannon, VA ~ Rev. Vernon Cecil Howard Jessee, 87 passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Holston Manor in Kingsport Tennessee. He was a retired employee of Uniroyal Plastics. He was a pastor of several Free Will Baptist Churches in his life, the last one was in St. Paul, Virginia.
He was the son of the late Denny Edison Jessee and Zemie Elizabeth (Dellinger) Jessee; his first wife; Elsie Janus Salyers Jessee; four brothers, Charlie (Doris) Jessee, Edison (Bernice) Jessee Jr., Thomas (Ruth) Jessee and Delton 'Bub' Jessee; grandson, Brandon Jessee; son-in-law, Steven Doust; great grandchildren, R.J. Walleman, Samantha Walleman, CaseyAnna
Survivors include his spouse, Nita Joyce Jessee, Dungannon; one daughter, Sue (Jerry Myers) Jessee, Oak Harbor, Oh; three sons, Denny (Barb) Jessee, Port Clinton, OH, Ken (Vicki Whitted) Jessee, Port Clinton, OH,Vernon Cecil (Trish Burnette) Jessee Jr., Port Clinton, OH; a sister, Ellawese Reed, Greenville, SC; a brother, Barney (Brenda Hamilton) Jessee, Stanley, NC, three step-daughters, Olivia (Kevin) Stelley, Bluff City, TN, Melissa Williams, and Shirley (Andy) Hundley, Mt. Carmel, TN; a step-son,
Oscar L. Cox, San Bernadino, CA; 11 grandchildren, 25 grest grandchildren, several nieces, nephews uncles and cousins.
Rev. Cecil Jessee was a family Icon, one of the founders of the Jessee Historical Foundation, contributor to the family genealogy efforts, family reunions, and a preacher and musician of renown. He was admired, respected, and loved by many. He made us proud. He always prayed for me, and knew I needed it. Jim Jessee
