Ken Wagner [] wrote, November 20, 2016 regarding Jacob Jessee:

Hello, cousins...

My name is Ken Wagner. My great grandmother is Rebecca Jessee Weddle, daughter of Jacob and Nancy (probably nee CHILDS) Jessee. Nancy and her children can be found in the 1850 US census in Knox County Tennessee with her name spelled Jessey. I have found the family in the 1840 census in Knoxville and have determined that Jacob died between Feb 1848 (youngest child born 26 Oct 1848) and before 02 October 1848 when there was probate action dealing with his estate.

Jessee Family Reunion-Oct. 1, 2016

on Mon, 08/01/2016 - 17:43

The 12 Biennial National Jessee Family Reunion was held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, beginning at 10 am. See details at I encouraged a good attendance, but understand it was low.

It has been my plan to be there this year, with my wife Nelda, and to be at the Russell County Library in Lebanon, VA, on Friday, Sept. 30, from 11 am to 2 pm to meet new reunion visitors, and to help family with their genealogy research. I had planned to be in the Family History Room at the Library.

Denise Summersett Joins the Jessee Newsletter

on Tue, 03/08/2016 - 19:41

I am pleased to introduce Denise Summersett, who goes by the handle of Peggy Sue, who has volunteered to edit the News and other colums for the Jessee Genealogy Service website.  It is particularly interesting that she is a descendant of John and Clia Smith Jesse, via William Morgan Jesse and Mary Ann “Polly” Parker of VA.  We do not know how John and Clia Jesse are related to John and Frankey Lea Jessee, but could share common ancestors in Colonial VA.

An Apology and Request from your Editor-Jim Jessee

on Tue, 11/03/2015 - 21:08

When I stopped publishing a printed Newsletter in 2012, I planned to have an active Jessee Genealogy Service Website, this website, where I would share lots of news and commentary in an on-going basis.  Well, my expectations did not happen.  I have been deeply engaged in retirement, grandfatherhood, cabin time, and other distractions. Nelda and I have grandchild care about 2-3 days a week, with Helen, a threenager, and Clara, going on two, plus we spend lots of time at our cabin in Butte Meadows, with no TV, Internet, or cell service.
